Dozens of celebrities posted photos on Christmas, but this is the only one I can remember. It’s been more than three days. I’m still thinking about it.

There’s the way Jeremy looks at Addison. She appears to be mid-conversation, maybe talking about lasagna or face masks — I think something tense, like whether Mother! was a good movie. (She hated it, but some man, a family friend, is explaining that it’s about the environment.

Finally, there’s the caption: “Wishin and hoping.” Jeremy rarely posts anything on Instagram, so when he does, it feels very profound. “Happy holidays from our family to yours.” That wouldn’t cut it. “Love this woman.” Empty words. He saw the picture — his face, the body language — and decided that it represented the acts of wishing and hoping. He doesn’t know what the future holds, but he sees it in this photo.

Addison posted a more playful version, but I can’t project as many emotions onto it.
