Kelly Clarkson Shares Insight Into Her Health and Weight-Loss Journey

Kelly Clarkson recently detailed the workouts and wellness practices she does to stay in shape following her move to New York City last year.

Kelly Clarkson is feeling stronger, stronger than ever before.

The Grammy winner recently shared insight into her body transformation, noting that moving to New York City last fall helped kickstart her health and fitness journey.

“Walking in the city is quite the workout,” Kelly told People in an interview published Jan. 3. “And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”

Exercising and trying new wellness practices aren’t the only lifestyle changes the 41-year-old has made either.

“I eat a healthy mix,” Kelly explained of her diet. “I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor—a couple years I didn’t. And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway.”

As she put it, “I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!”

Last year, Kelly relocated her family—her daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7, who she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock—and her eponymous talk show from Los Angeles to New York City.

“I was very unhappy in L.A, and had been for several years,” she revealed. “I needed a fresh start.”

The “Breakaway” singer explained how she discussed her plans to move across the country with NBC, the network that airs her show.

“‘I’m not trying to sound ungrateful, I just can’t stay here anymore for my mental health; for me and my kids,'” Kelly recalled telling network executives. “They weren’t doing well either. For the past few years, I’d just been showing up and smiling and doing what I’m supposed to do, but you can only compartmentalize so long until you break.”

It turns out, being open to change has its perks.

“To be able to come into season five feeling good and knowing my kids feel good—and the dust has settled,” she continued, “Season five is my first season to actually enjoy every minute of it.”

Why Taylor Swift Sends Kelly Clarkson Flowers After Every Re-Recording

In an exclusive interview with E! News, Kelly Clarkson spoke about the sweet gift she recently received from Taylor Swift and noted, “I love how kind she is.”

Now this gesture is so gorgeous.

Kelly Clarkson recently revealed the sweet gift she received from Taylor Swift and fans won’t be able to shake it off.

“You know what’s so funny? She just sent me flowers,” The Kelly Clarkson Show host exclusively told E! News. “She’s so nice. She did. She was like, ‘Every time I release something’—’cause she just did 1989. I got that really cute cardigan, too.”

As fans know all too well, Kelly suggested in a 2019 tweet that Taylor should re-record her music after Scooter Braun’s company Ithaca Holdings LLC acquired her former label Big Machine Label Group and obtained the rights to the masters for her first six studio albums (her music catalog was subsequently sold to Shamrock in 2020). And that’s exactly what the “Wildest Dreams” artist did.

Still, the “Breakaway” singer maintains that Taylor likely would have come up with this solution without her recommendation.

“I love how kind she is though,” Kelly continued. “She’s a very smart businesswoman. So, she would have thought of that. But it just sucks when you see artists that you admire and you respect really wanting something and it’s special to them. You know if they’re going to find a loophole, you find a loophole. And she did it and literally is, like, the best-selling artist I feel like of all-time now.”

The American Idol alum also praised Swifties for supporting Taylor through this process.

“It’s so cool to see a fanbase really get behind her in that too because it’s important,” she added. “She’s known for being such an incredible songwriter and the soundtrack to a lot of people’s lives and that’s her life. So, you should have the option of owning that.”

Now, Kelly is the one saying welcome to New York as her eponymous daytime talk show has officially moved to the Big Apple. And since u been gone, she’s also launched her own SiriusXM channel Kelly Clarkson Connection.

“We called it Kelly Clarkson Connection because there is literally no connection with all the music I’m playing except that I like it,” Kelly told E! at SiriusXM’s Major Next Generation event. “I’ve always wanted since I was a kid—I didn’t understand why Whitney Houston and Nirvana couldn’t be played on the same channel. Like, I like both, so why can’t we do that?”

The three-time Grammy winner also said she’s a fan of the music by Rosemary Clooney, Aretha Franklin, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire and Tupac.

“We’re going to be playing that, too,” she said. “‘Dear Mama,’ what? It’s a great song.”
